The Three-Spot Gourami is known for its blue-grey coloration and the three blue spots on each side of its body in line with its eyes. This species has been selectively bred to create a variety of color morphs including the gold, opaline and cosby Gouramis. Three-Spot Gouramis are native to the Mekong River basin in Vietnam, Laos, China and Thailand as well as several other countries. In the wild, these fish are typically found in slow-moving waters such as ponds, swamps, ditches and marshes where the vegetation is thick and the lighting low.
