The Pearl Danio originates in the small rivers and hill streams of Sumatra, Burma and Thailand. These fish vary in coloration, but most specimens have a yellow, pink or silver body ornamented with two yellowish white or reddish blue stripes. The bodies of these fish exhibit an iridescent sheen, which is how they earned the name Pearl Danio. This species is also known by the nickname Blue-Redstripe Danio.
