Often confused with the Blue Acara, the Green Terror can be differentiated by the bump on the forehead in mature specimens. The males of this species exhibit a greenish coloration offset with pale blue/green patterning in the chin area. Many males also have bright red or yellow fringing on the dorsal and caudal fins. Female Green Terrors tend to be olive green in color and are generally less colorful than males of the species. The Green Terror is a South American Cichlid native to Ecuador and Peru. This species can typically be found in the still waters of river basins.
