Glass Catfish

Glass Catfish

Native to Asia, Glass Catfish can be found in Borneo, Sumatra and Thailand as well as in the Malay Peninsula. These fish typically inhabit large, flowing rivers and streams where the water is peaty and cool. These catfish earned their name for the transparency of their bodies which is similar to glass. The only non-transparent parts of a Glass Catfish’s body are the head, bone and organs. Like all catfish, this species is scaleless and it also has a set of barbels positioned in front of the anal fin.
